Slane castle offers two banqueting options for your special day, Burton Hall which can accommodate up to 240 guests and King George IV’s Ballroom which has a capacity of 110 guests. Both rooms offer luxurious surroundings and features. Burton Hall has a magnificent circular room and three large arched windows which provide a spectacular backdrop for your top table. The Ballroom boasts an intricately designed ceiling that will impress even the most discerning guest.

The castle offers ten spacious bedrooms which can accommodate up to twenty four guests. All bedrooms are ensuite and beautifully decorated. The Bridal Suite is included complimentary on the day of your wedding.

Included in the wedding pack at Slane Castle is your own personal Wedding Coordinator and a dedicated Event Management team who are experts in the wedding and events industry and will be there to work with you form the initial show around right up until the morning after your wedding.

We hope to make it as easy as possible for you, our guests, to organise your wedding, party or event at Cloghan Castle. Some couples may be put off with the prospect of having to arrange a wedding in a self-catering venue and maybe from abroad, however it is very do-able, and we are sure our information pack will be of great help to you in the co-ordination of your event. All of the services shown on our website and in our brochure have experience working at, or in association with Cloghan Castle and they will be of tremendous assistance to you. In 1973 Cloghan Castle was a derelict ruin, all that remained of the fortified Norman keep built in 1239, were the walls of the tower house. Michael Burke always had an interest in history and seeing the ruined castle on a neighbour’s land he thought it would be a nice idea to restore it. Our History page has further details.

Cloghan Castle features the following:

* Seven luxurious double bedrooms, each individually decorated.
Three are ensuite and three have open fireplaces.
* Banquet hall seating 120 guests, with large open fireplace for a truly medieval atmosphere. (29ft X 44.5ft)
* Drawing room upstairs (1,000 sq ft) with large open fireplace, ideal for drinks receptions.
* Barbeque facility on battlement for 250 guests
* Fully equipped kitchen
* Cloakroom.

Before guest arrival, all beds are made up with freshly laundered linen, fresh towels will be provided in the bathrooms. There are 3 sets of linen for each bed to facilitate guests changing during duration of stay. We also supply hairdryers, iron and ironing board.

Heating and electricity is included in the rental fee and we do not charge Value Added Tax (VAT).

Children under 10 years are not allowed on the premises at any time.

Check in and checkout times are strictly 12 noon. If guests are hiring for a 24 hour period they can have access to the Castle for one hour only during the previous evening, between 6pm and 7pm, for the sole purpose of dropping off items. It is not possible to set up during the previous evening.
Bar Facilities

We do not have a licence to sell alcohol on the premises, it is necessary to hire a company who can transfer their license to the Castle for your occasion.

There are two options, we suggest you contact them directly for details of prices and what they include. Both companies can look after all your bar requirements including glasses, ice, kegs, gas, beer lines, fridges and bar hire.

At Belle Isle Castle our experienced team will attend to every detail ensuring a magical occasion. The Castle is licensed to hold civil ceremonies and couples can choose to marry in three superb locations – the magnificent hall, the elegant drawing room or the sunken garden.

Reception

Following the ceremony up to 50 guests can dine in great splendour in the Castle’s magnificent banqueting hall complete with its own minstrel’s gallery. A champagne reception in the Castle’s splendid drawing room or outdoors in the garden can precede the wedding banquet.

The selection of menus ranges from a delicious but simpler 4-course meal to a more lavish banquet. Our in-house chef and her highly competent team will create your choice of menu combining their skills with the finest local produce, paying every attention to detail and presentation of the highest standard. Belle Isle Castle will supply all the wines and spirits throughout your stay. Our wine list is extensive and we will be happy to help you select suitable wines to complement your choice of menu.

The elegant drawing room with two Steinway grand pianos, Persian carpets, fine oil paintings and an antique chess table, has three windows that command a stunning view of nearby mountains and lake.

The dining room seats 30 people comfortably. The room boasts a great stone fireplace with a carved coat of arms commemorating the marriage of Robert Martin, who built the castle in 1590, and Kate Lynch. The Martin and Lynch families are two of the fourteen “tribes of Galway”.

The Cottages

For family reunions, anniversaries, or a large group of friends vacationing together, Ross Castle Courtyard is an ideal location. The wing of the castle, which forms one side of the courtyard, has four interconnecting apartments sleeping sixteen. Catherines’s Cottage on the east side of the courtyard sleeps six, and the St. George facing west sleeps twelve.The chapel, for an anniversary mass or a mass of anticipation, completes the quadrangle.

“Catherine’s Cottage ” radiates warmth with its multiple sky lights and woodburning fireplace. This cozy cottage accomodates 6 people with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.

“St George ” with 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms,  accommodates up to 12 guests. The cottage’s rich woods and spacious living rooms inspire memorable moments together.

All the apartment and cottage bathrooms are completely tiled and have showers and heated towel rails. Water pressure meets or exceeds US standards.
