Le Castel Outside

An exclusive Napoleon III chateau with just six luxurious rooms. We offer B&B and evening meals.
Le Castel is in a stunning location, set in four acres of parkland and overlooking rolling countryside.
We are near the beautiful cathedral city Coutances and many top tourist sites, including Mont St Michel,
the Bayeux Tapestry and the D-Day beaches.

We also have a two bedroomed, two bathroomed, self catering gite in the grounds.
There is easy access from Dinard airport or the ferry ports at Cherbourg and Caen.
They are all around an hour away.

A luxurious chateau for all seasons

Le Castel has just six luxurious rooms that are all ensuite. It is a chateau for all seasons – Le Castel is cool and elegant in summer but cosy and warm in winter wtih central heating and log fires. You can hire anything from one room on a B&B basis to the whole chateau. With exclusive hire you have the choice of self catering or we can do all the cooking for you. There is also a self-catering cottage in the grounds of Le Castel. A row of 18th century cottages have been turned into a stunning two bed self-catering unit called Voici. It has two bathrooms, including one ensuite.

Weddings

Le Castel is a classic Napoleon III chateau, which provides a stunning back drop for your wedding. Our aim is to make your dreams come true.

Having your blessing and reception at Le Castel is a much more friendly and intimate experience than many traditional hotels. The idea is that Le Castel feels like your home.  Owner Jon Barnsley is on hand to ensure every detail is perfect. “Your blessing and reception can be as formal or relaxed as you wish,” says Jon.

Le Castel has six luxurious ensuite rooms in the main house and a further three bedrooms in cottages in the grounds. Other guests can be accommodated in hotels less than ten minutes away.

Le Castel is set in the four acres of parkland just outside the cathedral city of Coutances.

There is a stunning blessing area in a natural cathedral of trees.  The trees soar over 150ft high and have five canvas sails flying out of them. Amongst the trees are torches to give added atmosphere.

Some couples have an informal blessing with guests standing amongst the trees for the service. Others create an aisle and go for chairs with beautiful white covers and elaborate flowers – the choice is yours.

Jon can arrange for a religious or a non-religious celebrant for your service.

Le Castel specialises in blessings and receptions for 12 to 50 guests.

After the service

After the service guest usually move over to two pagodas on the lawn for champagne and canapés. An hour or so later you sit down for dinner either in the main chateau or in permanent marquees on the lawn.

Reception food ranges from elegant cocktail parties to formal dinners or a more casual hog roast.

Jon and his staff are happy to arrange every aspect of your big day – from florists and hairdressers to catering and music.

Gites

Luxury gites in the grounds of a Normandy chateau

Voici et Voila

Voici and Voila are two unique gites in the grounds of a beautiful Normandy chateau.
They offer the ultimate in flexibility – they can accommodate two to eight people in style and comfort. The two gites have been created from a row of pretty 18 th century stone cottages. Both Voici and Voila enjoy views of Le Castel, a classic Napoleon III chateau with turrets.

Voici and Voila are set in four acres of parkland just outside of Coutances. Voici can be rented on its own or combined with Voila for larger parties. . Both are superbly well fitted and blend old world charm with 21 st century comfort. Original beams and exposed stone work collide harmoniously with innovative touches and styling from today.

Voici

Voici is a two bedroomed gite with two bathrooms (one ensuite), a large lounge and a great dining kitchen. The ensuite bedroom has a double bed (140cm) and the other room has oversized twin sleigh  beds (110cm and 120cm). The cottage sleeps four people plus the odd child in a cot or put-u-up bed. Many families put a fold up bed in the twin room, although it does leave it a little tight for space (not that kids seem to mind!). There is family bathroom on the ground floor, so the kids can be popped straight in the bath after playtime. The ensuite has a relaxing shower with a ten jet massage system. Being an old cottage, the staircase is steeper than you might be used to. Right outside is a picnic and BBQ area plus plenty of parking.

Voila

Voici not big enough for your party? Well, you can also hire Voila, which is right next door. Please note that Voila is not available to rent on its own. Voila has a large bedroom with a huge 160cm wide bed. There is also a large ensuite shower room, study area , lounge and a small kitchen. Voila is like a luxurious hotel suite and is ideal if your party includes grandparents or another couple, who want to be near to you but have a little extra privacy.   There is a sofa bed in the lounge of Voila.   When combined you can sleep six to ten people in Voici and Voila.
