Castle Wedding In Duns Wedderburn Castle

Wedderburn Castle Outside
Wedderburn is the perfect location for your Scottish castle wedding and reception. The sweeping stone stairs provide a dramatic entrance, leading to four spacious and elegant reception rooms.
Weddings
We welcome civil, religious and humanist wedding ceremonies at Wedderburn Castle. Your wedding can take place in any of our licensed rooms, or outdoors on the castle lawns. There are also several historic churches to choose from nearby. After your wedding ceremony, the reception can be held in the castle grounds or there is ample space for your reception and wedding photography indoors.
In the castle itself the light, spacious ballroom is a fitting place to hold your wedding ceremony. Up to 92 guests will be comfortably seated, while more intimate parties might choose the elegant stair hall or the drawing room for the ceremony.
We will, of course, provide you with unlimited practical advice on arranging both your wedding ceremony and reception party. Alternatively our events management staff will be delighted to provide a full wedding planning and co-ordination service.

Receptions
Wedderburn will comfortably host a wedding reception and banquet for up to 92 guests. Dinner can be served in the spacious ballroom, or the dining room will seat more intimate parties of up to 42. All reception rooms at Wedderburn will be available for your guests to enjoy throughout their visit, simply to relax with drinks from the bar or catch up over after-dinner coffee.
Your reception can be held outdoors in the beautiful castle grounds, or of course indoors throughout the elegant reception rooms. Our staff will deliver any drinks or canape service ordered wherever your reception takes place on the day, and of course we welcome photography throughout the castle and grounds.
Entertainment
As Wedderburn is your exclusive-use ‘home away from home’ your schedule and choice of entertainments is not limited by the presence of other paying guests. Pipers, bands and any other entertainments are welcomed, and the ballroom is an ideal place for a ceilidh or dance. During the day, outdoor activities including clay pigeon shooting, falconry, hot air ballooning and Highland Games are easily arranged in the grounds of the castle.

Wedderburn Castle Reception
Receptions Rooms and Bedrooms
The remarkable reception rooms at Wedderburn give the castle great flexibility as a leading venue for weddings, corporate events, meetings and private celebrations.
Wedderburn was built in 1770 to a design by James Adam, now generally recognised as Scotland’s greatest architect. The elegance and grandeur of the exterior is matched inside Wedderburn’s reception rooms, which nevertheless retain the warm and welcoming ambience of a private family home.
Having arrived at the covered porch, you enter the Stair Hall. The geometric stone staircase, one of the most striking features in the castle, converges at the Gallery. This vaulted space almost 100 feet long joins the reception rooms on the first floor.
The dining room, with its beautiful William IV furnishing and long oak table comfortably seats up to 46 people, with up to 27 seated at the main table pictured here.
From the dining room, you can move either through the gallery or across the hall mezzanine to the drawing room, with a huge log fire and comfortable sofas. Parties with up to 92 guests can circulate easily among the reception rooms at Wedderburn.
Opposite the Drawing room you will find the Morning Room, which faces East to the morning sun. Formerly the smoking room, this beautiful oval sitting room provides additional space for larger parties.
Finally, via the Morning Room you reach the ballroom, with its marbled columns, elegant Georgian windows and twin crystal chandeliers, this is the perfect setting for wedding ceremonies, concerts, live music and dancing. The ballroom seats up to 92 guests either theatre style or for formal banqueting.
