Chateau Marouatte Outside

Welcome to Chateau Marouatte, a stunning 14th Century fortified castle steeped in history, now restored as an amazing family home.

Set in the Dordogne region of Perigord Vert in France, Chateau Marouatte enjoys spectacular panoramic views over the surrounding countryside.

The chateau provides a stunning venue for holidays, weddings and very special occasions. The castle combines a magical charm with modern comforts such as Egyptian cotton bed linen, satellite TV and wireless broadband. Special events such as banquets, cheese and wine tasting and murder mystery evenings are also available.

Chateau Marouatte has 12 individually styled bedrooms (11 kingsize/double and 1 single) plus 7 bathrooms. The 240 acre estate also includes a heated swimming pool, tennis court, playing field and many beautiful walks.

Weddings & Events

Marouatte is a fairy-tale setting for a wedding celebration. Getting married in France requires that either the bride or groom have lived in France for more than 40 days prior to the wedding – so many couples choose Marouatte as a beautiful setting for a local blessing, Catholic mass and/or the exchange of your personal vows.

Our bi-lingual wedding organizer can work with you to create the atmosphere you want and will coordinate all local activities – leaving you to enjoy your special day. Individually tailored days can include :

Chateau Marouatte Wedding

Chapel Wing

The Chapel Wing forms the central living accommodation of the chateau. The first floor houses the Master Suite and a spiral staircase leads to five additional bedrooms.

Entrance Hall – oak paneled room with wide oak staircase.

Cloakroom – washbasin, utilities (washing machine & dryer).

Dining Hall – a wonderful room with vaulted ceiling in what was the original chapel. Featuring a finely carved wooden fireplace and doors, furnished throughout with ornately carved cabinets.

Kitchen – with an arched stone ceiling, the kitchen is well equipped including Limoges crockery, glasses and picnic-ware. Dishwasher, large fridge / freezer, microwave, coffee machine, stereo/CD. The original fireplace is host to a Godin gas hob and electric oven and also incorporates a wood burning stove and oven. The cellar, accessed from the kitchen, can be used for additional storage of supplies and wine and contains a large chest freezer.

Master Suite

Up a wide oak stairway, the first floor landing leads to the paneled hallway of the Master Suite.

Master Suite (Bedroom 1)
This large room features a king size bed with canopy and matching furnishings. The room is partially panelled and decorated in pastel colours. The ceiling has amazing cornicing and on the walls hang a large tapestry and oil paintings. There is a small wc with washbasin en-suite. Across hallway to

Master Bathroom
Bath / shower with inlaid panel of decorative tiles and marble surround, washbasin, wc and bidet.

Dressing Room (Bedroom 2)
Originally the dressing room for the Master Bedroom, this can be also used independently if required. It has a double four-poster bed with a decorative canopy and curtains. On the wall hang more oil paintings and tapestries.

Garden Tower

Independently accessed from the garden and main terrace with uninterrupted views of the forest and valley, the Garden Tower has two bedrooms. Ideal for a family group if desired :

Bedroom 9 – ground floor, ornately carved double bed, separate cloakroom

Bedroom 10 – on the first floor, accessed by stone spiral staircase this bedroom has a king size bed with canopy above. En-suite bathroom with bath/shower, washbasin, wc and bidet.
