Wedding Receptions

A Wedding Reception at Lumley Castle Hotel is a magical experience. Everything will be planned to the finest detail and your Reception Room perfectly staged to receive you as The Bride and Groom.

Our State rooms can hold up to 132 guests for large celebrations or we can cater for more intimate weddings with special packages available for between 10 and 30 guests.

Civil Ceremonies

Lumley Castle Hotel is a popular venue for civil wedding ceremonies. The hotel’s civil licence means that you can both marry and celebrate your wedding reception in its historic surroundings.

Lumley Castle Hotel is licenced to hold civil wedding or wedding vow renewal ceremonies in The Scarbrough State Room and it is only a short walk to your chosen reception venue once your ceremony is over.

The Civil Ceremony Package includes:

Chair covers
Red Carpet
Use of cd player
Use of grounds for photographs

A maximum of 77 guests may attend the ceremony plus two Registrars and a Wedding Supervisor – totally 80 people in the room. (Please note any photographers, videographers or musicians will be included in your guest numbers).

Please contact the Superintendent Registrar at Stanley Registry Office on (01207) 235 849 to reserve your ceremony time. Please note that an additional Wedding Licence Fee will be payable direct to the Registrar.

Should you wish to host your Wedding Breakfast in The Scarbrough, the earliest Ceremony time available would be 3.30 pm.

Intimate Weddings

If you are hoping to celebrate your Wedding Day with a small number of guests, host an Intimate Wedding at Lumley Castle Hotel. Hold your civil wedding ceremony in The Scarbrough State Room and then continue your celebrations in one of our sumptuously decorated Private Rooms; The Gilt and The Sceptre have a unique ambience that will make your reception simply magical for up to 14 guests, whilst larger groups of up to 30 guests can be accommodated in The Scarbrough or The Northumbria.

The only difficulty you will have is in choosing which one of our fabulous rooms you would like to spend your Honeymoon night.

Afternoon Tea

Enjoy Afternoon Tea in Lumley Castle Hotel’s Library Bar every day between 3pm and 5pm.

Afternoon Tea includes a choice of tea or coffee (including herbal tea selections), a cold sandwich, a homemade scone with cream, fresh strawberries and jam.
